Ancient Tamil Nadu sarees are back with Modernization



We all knows that the fashion goes always come back after certain time. This time, the fashion of ancient sarees of Tamilnadu state has come back in the trend. Ancient sarees like Sungudi, Kandangi and Koorai Nadu were so popular which set to come back with state-run cooptex. 14 lakh INR has been granted to the "co-optex" - Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers' Co-operative Society from Tamil Nadu Government. The main motto behind it is to revive the trend of traditional sarees.




The skills needed for weaving are very few and finding craftsmen for cooptex so that they could be get into making traditional sarees.

According to Managing Director, Cooptec, U Sagayam, Incentives are will be given to members of weavers who are for revival package for this scheme.

The main features of the ancient sarees would be the same but few minor changes in the colour and fashion would be there keeping modern working women's lifestyle in the mind.


Such designer sarees like Sungudi, Kandangi were having a big market which now a days is insignificant.
